Academics
A curriculum that builds steadily
South Point English School follows the curriculum prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Our teaching plan translates that framework into everyday classroom practice, with continuous assessment, remedial support and enrichment for every learner.
Teaching is activity-led in the early years and progressively more analytical as students move up the school, so that by the secondary stage they are ready for board examinations and for independent study beyond school.
Stages
How the years are structured
Preparatory Stage · Classes III to V
English, Hindi, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Computer Awareness, Art and Physical Education. Reading fluency and written expression are given particular attention.
Middle Stage · Classes VI to VIII
English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Sanskrit or a third language, Computer Science, Art and Physical Education. Laboratory work and project work begin in earnest.
Secondary Stage · Classes IX and X
English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and an additional subject, taught to the CBSE board syllabus with regular practice examinations.
Senior Secondary Stage · Classes XI and XII
The Science stream, taught to the CBSE senior secondary syllabus: English Core, Physics, Chemistry and Physical Education, with Mathematics, Biology or both as the fourth subject. Physics, Chemistry and Biology become full subjects with their own laboratory programmes, teaching moves decisively from recall towards application and analysis, and Class XII closes with board practical examinations and guidance on competitive entrance tests.
Classes XI and XII
Senior Secondary: the Science stream
At present South Point English School offers the Science stream in Classes XI and XII. Students take English together with Physics and Chemistry, and then choose Mathematics, Biology, or both, according to the path they intend to follow.
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics suits students aiming at engineering, architecture, computing and the physical sciences. Physics, Chemistry and Biology suits those aiming at medicine, pharmacy, agriculture and the life sciences. Progress
Assessment
Assessment follows the CBSE pattern of internal assessment through the year combined with term examinations. Parents receive a written report each term and are invited to meet class teachers to discuss progress.
